Casey’s Blog :
Well the wind has been pretty light around here for a while(waves have been great though) but that was not the case on oct 7. It was a wind forecast that came out of nowhere! And man did it blow, a steady 30-40 knots pretty much all day! That made for some crazy epic conditions. The bouy report at 5 pm that day said 11.5ft at 8 sec. So the general rule is the wave doubles when the second reef jacks it up! So there were definitely some 25 ft big clean mellow top to bottom sets on the outside and boy they were moving fast! It was a day that really got the adrenaline pumping! It’s very hard to sail in 40 knots , but by the end of the day I was starting to get the Extra small chopper(3.4 ish)and 72L goya quad tuned in, resulting in some amazing wave rides. I know I scored on at least 3 set wave monsters. Fun fun fun. Everybody who was out scored some epic rides and was charging very hard. I saw Steve and Joel impressively holding down there 5 and 7m kites and getting some drifty carvey wave rides which was very cool. I know kiting is easy, but in 40 knots nothing is easy and it takes brass balls to be out there, just awesome to see. There is some great links, pics and vid from that day. I will try to post below! Now we wait for the next big day!
This is marty vid from the day pretty sweet.
Brendan vid also sweet!
