Casey’s Blog: New Vid is up! Check it out.
Well 2017 is going down as “Awesome”. It was Pretty much a repeat of 2016 except supercharged. Its was another year were Dareef was Liquid all year, that made accomplishing my goal of 100 days in the waves easy, and now that I have found my niche in the Foiling game , with “Surf foiling” its going to be sooo easy to get 100days every year.
Now that I am looking back at the last 12 months it was a incredible year of so many first. Building 2 Special Boards (Red Barron, Mystery Machine) that really broke the boundaries of what is possible was awesome by itself. Then to be truly at the for front of an emerging sport with Surf & Surf wind foiling is such a addicting rush. I will never forget the luck of catching and experiencing some of the best hurricane surf in Hatteras ever! Last but not lest, getting the chance to live on one of the best fresh water surf spots in the world for 100+ sessions, Its hard to imagine a better life. But hey! ya never know, Bring on 2018 and Da stats.!

That’s it! Time to do it all over again. HIT THE LIP
Da Reef is definitely fully open. Seems like the wave days are starting to rack up for me now. Just scored an amazing and very surprising SUP session in H-Bay. Probably the best I have ever had there. Just absolute perfect. Mirror glassy super long lines that would peel left and right with about waist to head high sets. Yup a Long board dream wave. As usual I was solo for one of the best sessions of the year, so no pics or vid. So let me visualize a typical ride for you all. Catch perfect wave that stuck out like a mountain, gain some speed, walk out to the nose, hang 5 maybe 10, have a sip of rum, then run back to the tail do a full bottom turn then HIT THE LIP hard!, 3 paddle strokes to clear the section, run out to nose have some more rum, see the lip peaking again, run back to the tail, off the lip two paddle strokes, bottom turn smack the lip again then celebrate with a huge whammy air Paddle guitar solo jam. Turn around paddle back out and do again, and again, and again till sun goes down.
There ya go! Who needs pics or a vid when you have a visual like that? Hehe.
Ok all Reef Warriors it’s time to get on it! Ya!
Well 2012 is over, and all I can say is I had a “lot of fun”! Wow. Any time you can spend a 1/3 of the year catching waves your living life. That’s pretty good considering its was a poor year for wind and waves on the Reef. Two things extended the season; first I surfed all 12 months on Da Reef for the first time ever, and second three Hatteras trips saved the day which resulted in 26 sessions. With all that added into the mix I can’t complain. We added lots of new Reef Warriors to the clan this past year and the level of surfing on the reef took a huge jump up. More Windsurfers and Kiters then ever were charging waves hard and going for the Lip, it was very impressive and fun to see. There were Lots of new Sup-ers getting their first rides thru the line up in 2012, that has cranked up the stoke. And finally! after I have destroyed my retirement fund, I think I have found my “magic” quiver of toys, after many, many, year’s of searching and testing. I guess time will tell. Now to the stats and pics!

HIT THE LIP!
Wow 2012 sure ended with a bang. On the 31st I got up at 7am scored a fun snow kite sesh in a foot of powder. Then raced up to the Reef and windsurfed in 30 knots/ mast high waves till dark, even Sandro and Steve joined in on the fun. Then I wasn’t done yet with the day. Most of the Reef Warriors assembled at sherkston for a killer news year eve party. I lasted till 2am before I finally ran out of gas and Rum. Not a bad way to end 2012, 19 hours strait of pure fun. Now the first problem in 2013 is its taken me 3 days to recover from all that action. I getting old. Amanda and I did start off the year by scoring the first sesh on the reef. It was a nice Sup sesh with some very smooth waist high peelers. I am very proud of Amanda for suiting up and going for it. Cause it was cold (Air temp in Low 20F(-6c)). She broke thru the Mental barrier and found out how fun cold weather surfing can be. Session #1 is now in the books. Bring on 2013!
Thanks Christina.Sandro and Jim for the pics.
