Well 2017 is going down as “Awesome”.   It was Pretty much a repeat of 2016 except supercharged.  Its was another year were Dareef was Liquid all year, that made  accomplishing my goal of 100 days in the waves easy, and now that I have found my niche in the Foiling game , with “Surf foiling” its going to be sooo easy to get 100days every year.

Paddle pics and Chili Cook-off reminder

In my excitement to share the video post of the Once Around the Wreck paddle I forgot to add these links to photos from the labor day paddle.

And a quick reminder, Chili cook -off will be September 30th, at Caseys place, ledge 4, please have your chili warm and delivered between  4 and 5 pm.

Crock pot cooker bags will be available for pick up the weekend of 9/23 here at ledge 12.

Hope to see everyone there!!!!

once around the wreck/labor day weekend

The great poet laureate of Margaritaville once said:

” It is hard to reason with the hurricane season”

This statement is a fact when it comes to planning for this year’s

Once around the Wreck Paddle.

Our event will be held on Labor Day weekend Saturday, Sept. 2 at 10am.

Let’s get everyone on the beach by 9:30ish.

As of now the weather is looking most promising for a Saturday morning paddle. Light winds are forecast for the morning with the breeze picking up later in the day. (Unlike Sunday’s forecast which has the sailors jumping for joy!)

Please bring your pfd! The aqua cops have been around often and we don’t need to raise funds to bail someone out of the brig!

Join us as we gather all manner of paddle craft for a trip around the Sherkston ship wreck. Then gather in front of ledge 12  for some post paddle treats, make new friends, catch up with old friends and swap some stories.

A great tradition to begin the countdown to the end of the summer of 2017
Reef Warrior swag will be available for purchase.

If any one would like to donate some time to help set up or any goodies to share (morning snacks/water/soft drinks/ice,  ect.) please stop by and see Lou or Gail at ledge 12.

Please spread the word and let’s attempt to get over 100 paddlers involved!

See you all Saturday morning! Stay tuned for updates! (just in case :))

“The Mystery Machine” a Board room project

Casey’s Blog:

Well the wait is over, say hello to “the Mystery Machine”.  The first Reef Warrior designed  Ultra High performance Stand Up Paddle board, plus so much more. This board got its nickname and theme cause its going to take Scooby Doo and the gang to solve the mystery of this machine. Its taken me over 4+ years to achieve my goal and dream of building a High Performance SUP designed specifically for the Great Lake Waves.   I am proud to say all the insane hard work has paid off, this board is soooo much fun and just rips.  It has so many unique design features, hopefully I will get some time in the near future to discuss. In the  mean time check out some pics and features.

Calling all Paddlers

Hey all, it is almost Labor day and time for the annual paddle get together.

The weather looks very promising for the long weekend so let’s see if we can get over 100 paddlers of all shapes and sizes.

As of this post, we will plan on Sunday September 6th, 10 a.m. start. So let’s all be on the beach and ready (9:30) to go before then.

Don’t forget life jackets, we don’t need anyone getting a ticket and ruining a fun day.

For all the  followers of this site and the Reef Warrior facebook  page, please help spread the word.

If you are not a Sherkston resident but would like to join the fun please contact me at ledge12two@msn.com and we will work out the details to get you to the beach

The sunfish cooler and buffet will be set up in front of Ledge 12 as usual. Gail and I will provide some drinks and snacks. If any one would like to bring something to share it would be greatly appreciated.

Every year we have done this event, someone always asks…”Why do you do this? Is it for charity? So this year we decided to give back and share the Reef Warrior spirit of helping others.

This year we are going to be collecting donations to support Ronald McDonald House .

In the next post ( coming up soon) we will share the story of Radek LaRose, our youngest and bravest Reef Warrior and why Little Radek has chosen to help Ronald McDonald House.

We are going to have a few items to raffle off  and Reef Warrior gear will be for sale, $1 for every hat and shirt will be donated to the cause. Plan on hanging out for a while. It is a great time to meet your fellow paddlers. A few boards will be available for any one interested in trying stand up paddling.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on the beach.
